Open and Accessible Learning for Natural Medicine
IMUNE, the International Medical University of Natural Education, was established in 1997 in Geneva, Switzerland and operated under this Swiss charter since its inception. In 2005 IMUNE incorporated in the British Virgin Islands No. 665040.. IMUNE is established to offer educational resources in natural medicine and access to a reservoir of natural medicine knowledge. The incorporation is fully legalized with full government authority to use the terms International, Medical and University.
The intention is to provide access to a broad spectrum of courses to service the interests of all that are interested in natural medicine.
The Purpose of IMUNE
Natural medicine including energetic medicine has the most ancient pedigree of all the health monitoring and restoration disciplines. IMUNE perceives that all people have the right to access such non-harmful of modalities and to study them. IMUNE is specifically devoted to natural medicine and whilst recognizing the role of allopathic and surgical interventionist approaches in critical conditions promotes the use of approaches that operate to work with natural organism processes. All courses offered by IMUNE and associates carry this intent.
IMUNE has been established as a distance learning and facilitative university to provide flexible and appropriate education. It is an intention of IMUNE to establish a campus learning facility.
The majority of IMUNE courses are available worldwide. Whilst there are standard prerequisites for qualifications there are no entry restrictions or previous qualification requirements to study with IMUNE. Courses are specifically designed to enable part time and progressive education.
IMUNE also encourages research in the field of natural medicine and supports publication of such research.
Mission Statement
IMUNE is an accredited medical educational facility operating in compliance with international law and offering qualifications in the field of natural medicine. It is incorporated and authorized to use the terms international, medical and university. As such it has the authority to offer qualifications across a broad spectrum including certificates, diplomas, international licenses, bachelors degrees, masters degrees and doctorates. Each qualification is based upon internationally established criteria. IMUNE is dedicated to offering medical education with a natural base and the intent of increasing the availability of qualified health practitioners with conviction and knowledge in holistic and natural medicine. As such it is dedicated to the promotion of full access to natural medicine thus fulfilling a basic human right. This is facilitated by IMUNE offerings of high quality university accredited education to all who wish to study and optimize their potential in the application of holistic and natural medicine.
IMUNE has applied vigilance to ensure that the qualification process is consistent with the Department of Health and Human Services Guidelines (US), the guidelines issued by EC Health Authorities, by the Swiss Health Ministry and by BVI. This supports the intention of IMUNE to ensure credibility and evidence that qualified practitioners achieve and maintain natural medicine knowledge and skills.
IMUNE Study Process
The IMUNE concept of learning is to be appropriate both to the requirements of the qualification and the student. Thus it facilitates:
- Distance learning (supported open learning) via internet (website and live internet dialogue), CD-ROM materials, books and scientific publications.
- Off campus training courses offered by IMUNE and affiliated schools, institutes or organisations.
- On campus training (a future provision).
Open (distance) learning enables the student to control their own study programme and structure this appropriately to their learning requirements and resource availability.
Whilst the intention of IMUNE is to facilitate wherever possible distance learning the nature of some courses is that hands on skill development is required. There are also benefits in classroom learning via the personal interactions that this facilitates. Off campus live training is available in various locations and times to support this requirement.
Qualification Assessments Process
IMUNE develops, co-develops and reviews course offerings. The Dean has primary responsibility in this area. Course review includes assessment of:
- The expertise of the presenter in their field.
- The course curriculum and syllabus.
- The pedigree of the modality in it’s own right.
- The relevance of the modality and course in terms of natural medicine.
- The depth of the study programme in assessing the qualification levels.
- Aspects of detailed course content.
- The teaching qualifications/experience of the presenter.
- IMUNE specifically establishes the examination process for qualification which may include:
- Open computer based tests.
- Invigilated computer based tests.
- Assignments, project work (including case and clinical studies) and dissertations.
- Student feedback monitoring.
Student feedback information and IMUNE examination (rather than course operator assessments) are the primary ongoing barometer for IMUNE continuing to support the affiliation of an educational organization or course. IMUNE may certify courses from time to time under specific circumstances. The majority of courses will be self monitoring via the IMUNE set examination process. It is the examination, set and operated by IMUNE that sets the credibility of the course.
Trainer Accreditation
IMUNE will undertake every endeavour to ensure that trainers have the appropriate knowledge and educational ability to operate a course. The process for this will vary according to the teacher, their host organization and the subject material. Trainer certification or accreditation is continually reviewed using student feedback forms and examination results.
Learning Support
The responsibility for supporting the learning process is that of the course operator. As part of the course assessment prior to affiliation with IMUNE this aspect will be validated. The location of specific tutors will be decided by the nature of the course. The organizer or their contracted tutor(s) will be responsible for support and in some cases marking and feedback associated with assignments.
Student initiated self or supervised tutor groups are encouraged.
Tutor support may be face to face, web or conference call based. The details of tutor support will be included in the information provided by the course operator.
Device and Remedy Affiliation
IMUNE is an educational institution and does not align itself with any manufacturer or supply or in any way sanction or proscribe the use of any natural medicine device, remedy/supplement or approach. It is open to all such that fulfill it’s mission statement, offer integrity and wisdom and fulfill IMUNE auditing requirements.

IMUNE will not enter into dialogue about the validity or appropriateness of any device, remedy/supplement or modality. This is the responsibility of any prospective purchaser of such items. |
